Welcome To The Strathesk Medical Group This website will give you and
your family all the information you require. Strathesk Medical Group has two branches. The main branch is at Bonnyrigg and the smaller site at Loanhead. Both have access for the disabled. We offer the full range of general medical services. Additionally, most of our GPs have a specialist interest. For example, Drs Rother and Dyson are trained to offer acupuncture, Dr Doyle runs the minor surgery clinic, while Dr Smith leads our palliative care initiative. PRACTICE HISTORYStrathesk Medical Group was formed in June 1996 from two long established practices in Bonnyrigg and Loanhead. We are a friendly Group Practice offering a wide and comprehensive range of services to our patients with a commitment to high standards of health care. The practice gained accreditation in 2003 from the Royal College of General Practitioners. This is a reflection of the level of service being provided. The practice has also gained recognition for being involved in the training of GPs. Both medical students and doctors wishing to become GPs are actively supported within the practice. Within the practice many of the doctors have specialist postgraduate training and interests. These include dermatology, minor surgery, sports training and occupational health. Some of the GPs hold outside appointments, for example working in the Lothian NHS dermatology department and in the NHS occupational health service for Lothian and Borders Health Boards. The practice is also involved in the Midlothian Community Health Partnership, which is the organisation involved in developing health services within Midlothian.
